Music Thursday: Sirens

Hello, everybody!

Do you like Jane Eyre? I do, and I know a lot of people who do as well. But did you know that there was a musical made of Jane Eyre? I don't think it lasted very long, because not many people have heard of it, but it does have some pretty music in it.

Here is the song "Sirens" from Jane Eyre. I LOVE this song, by the way!

  1. I LOVE Jane Eyre! It has been one of my favorite books since the first time I read it. The musical is one of my favorites, too, and this is my favorite song from it!

Until now, I never noticed that the CD cover for the Toronto cast has Jane's face outlined in the chestnut tree! I only noticed the tree before.

Its book was written by John Caird who also wrote (or collaborated on) the books for Les Miserables and Children of Eden.

The musical was actually praised by critics, but it had a very short run. It received 5 Tony Award nominations, and Marla Schaffel won the Drama Desk Award for outstanding actress in a musical.

In 2007, the musical went to London, and it went to Tokyo in 2012.
